***Double Update: I got the YouTube version

In support of the non-profit organization GulfAid, Mos Def, Lenny Kravitz, and a cast of other talented musicians such as the Preservation Hall Band & Trombone Shorty, along with actor Tim Robbins came together to record the track, “It Aint My Fault”.  GulfAid is dedicated to stopping the recent oil spill, in the Gulf of Mexico from destroying our wetlands and to providing financial aid to affected fishermen and their families.

elevatedSOUL x Boho Fau – Coffee House Swinger

Elevated Soul releases a brand new LP titled Coffee House Swinger, featuring vocalist Boho Fau.  This LP is a very pleasant surprise for those who aren’t familiar with the L.A. group (Like me), it’s a refreshing mix of hip-hop and jazz.

Probably one of the best hip-hop jazz LP’s since Madlib dropped Shades Of Blue. I’m speaking the truth, take a listen for yourself.  It’ll make you wanna buy those overpriced Dr. Dre headphones, just so you can appreciated the fullness of their sound.

Inspired primarily by independent and experimental jazz vinyl from the late 60s, 70s and 80s, Slave Riot begins and ends with audible vinyl static, and it’s packaged uniform with Madlib’s other new jazz release, Miles Away: CD with heavy-boarded mini-gatefold LP-style package with a “tip-on” gatefold photo and inner sleeve. The double LP is printed with a duo-tone black panther on front & back.

Madlib Medicine Show No. 2 | Flight To Brazil

Madlib has launched a 12-part, one-a-month music series through 2010, which kicked off with Madlib Medicine Show #1: Before the Verdict and now the Beat Konducta takes a flight to Brazil for the second instalment.

Madlib Medicine Show No. 2 is an 80-minute guided tour through three of four decades of Brazilian funk, psych, prog-rock and jazz.

Madlib Medicine Show No. 2: Flight to Brazil is available at Stones Throw.  The first two are dope but I can’t wait for next month when “Beat Konducta in Africa” drops.
